Ruopeng,

I tried to run dti_recon on an 800x500x500 DTI dataset.  The "_tensor.nii" file should have been larger than 4GB but the result was only a few hundred megabytes.  I tried again using a reduced volume (800x500x400) which resulted in a correct result (3.84 GB "_tensor.nii" output).

I have done this test using Mac OS 10.5.8 and 10.6.4 with the same results.  I have tried on DTK version 6.0 and 6.1 (Mac OSX 64 & 32 bit) with the same result.  Both computers have 20GB+ of RAM and plenty of disk space (100+ GB) and I was the only user.

Could there be a 32 bit variable somewhere that is getting overflowed?

thanks

-Evan

I actually never tried it with that large of a data. Maybe you can try output nii.gz file? That would of course be a lot slower.

Meanwhile I'll see if I can create a large data set to test on.
