I was playing around with dtk (windows version) and I tried to create a custom gradient table (empty) with a new name. The application crashed and never started again. I uninstalled it, cleaned the registry but since then I  fail to make it work again. Obviously I am missing some hidden  "profile" files since the new installations do not ask for license key. Any help is wellcome.

Thank in advance

Hi,

I had a hard time reproducing your error. I couldnt make it crash by creating empty gradient table. When you say you "failed to make it work again", can you give more details? Did it not start up? or crashed again when you create a new table?

Best,

Ruopeng

By "fail to make it work" I mean that diffusion toolkit does not start at all. There is only a generic windows application error message about problems found by the "dtk.exe". May be there is  something with my own computer setup (e.g. it has the greek windows and the file paths have greek characters). The strange thing is that the first time run OK and since then even after reinstalling it I get the same error message.

It looks like something wrong with your registration file where the gradient table is saved in Windows. After uninstalling DTK, you can open up regedit program, search for "Diffusion Toolkit" and delete all the items you could find. Then install it again. The reason it doesn't ask for license any more is because Diffusion Toolkit shares the license information with TrackVis.

Although I had uninstalled and cleaned the registry multiple times in the past the crash insisted. After your last post I installed, cleaned the registry, reinstalled (without uninstall) and now it works perfectly again. An empty new table was created without problems. Thanks you for your feedback and the very helpful software.

I'm having the same problem with diffusion toolkit. I had it open overnight, and when I came back the next day it was closed and I haven't been able to start it up again. Every time I try, I get a windows error referencing

WEREE0E.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml and
WER273.tmp.mdmp

I've tried uninstalling and clearing the registry, I've tried doing exactly what Loukas did, but nothing seems to work. I'm currently running Windows 7 64-bit

Hmm, strange, I still can not reproduce this error. Maybe I should try it on a Windows 7 (still using XP now). I will keep you posted if I get any further.
