I found the FA map created has some entries larger than 1 and was wondering what is the reason. In literature, the maximum possible FA is 1, which means perfect linear diffusion along the primary direction. Thank you.
This has been a popular question. In theory, FA can not be greater than 1. But in real data, in some rare cases, you may get negative eigenvalues, thus resulting in FA values greater than 1. Some tools use absolute value of the eigenvalues to calculate FA, some just leave it as it is, as DTK does. Either way, those voxels should be categorized as having extremely high FA.
