Hello,

I have been using TrackVis on my machine (10.5.8 Intel Mac) for some time and have found it very useful and intuitive. All RGB=XYZ colors display correctly. Recently, I loaded the program onto another machine (10.5.8 PPC Mac) for another member of the lab to use. To test out the performance, I loaded one subject's .trk and _fa_color.nii files, which I originally created some time ago on my machine, onto this new machine. The fibers and slice views in the rendering window are colored correctly, but in the slice image panels at the bottom, the red and blue are swapped (i.e. CC is blue, CST is red). Both machines have verison 0.5.1 of TrackVis. I tried deleting both preference files on both machines, but the behavior remained the same. Any ideas that might fix this? Thanks,

John

It appears to be a Big Endian vs. Little Endian problem. PPC processor is Big Endian while Intel based one is Little Endian, so the byte order is reversed. Sorry, it's hard to find a PPC machine around nowadays for testing. I will fix it when I have a chance. (But I still won't be able to test it because we don't have a PPC Mac any more. Frown)

Hi Ruopeng,

Thank you so much for such a quick and informative response. I figured it might have something to do with the old machine, but TrackVis runs surprisingly well even on the G5 so we thought we'd try to get some use out of it. Perhaps this is a signal that it is time to buy our RA a new computer…
